In the old city of Rethymno on the historical island of Crete, the biggest Greek island, architect Kostas Iliakis renovated in 1987 a beautiful mansion dating back to 1660, using a brilliant combination of Cretan, Venetian and Oriental techniques, to create what is today the “Avli Lounge Apartments” hotel.

Seven charming suites of exquisite beauty complement AVLI’s gastronomy and wine facilities.
Each suite pays homage to a unique architectural style based on the 15th century atmosphere and provides luxury comforts that meet one’s every need, in the spirit of true Cretan hospitality.

Venetian arches, works of art, crystal and porcelain are shown off against an authentic Greek background of flowers and fountains. The colours of the palette of this mysterious island lend their names to the suites.

A new, attractive building, a small diamond of tradition and hospitality came to the surface and joined Avli. Recently renovated using only local traditional materials of Crete, stone, wood and iron and dusted with sugar, love, dreams and joy, it is ready to continue its 500 years history. The five great new, small suites, are added to the already grand Lounge Suites of Avli Lounge Apartments to awaken forgotten memories, hidden desires, secret weaknesses, tender childish mischievieousness.

Reflections of colorful toys and candy, delicious cakes, crispy biscuits and fresh cream pies welcome you in a fabulous, atmosphere! Colours and inspiration from candy, jellies, small cakes, lollipops and cookies, offer the visitor to AVLI Candy Suites, a stay full of sweet experiences, unexpected well-being and completeness of senses…

In the living room, elegant furniture and impressive antiques are the reminder of the sophistication of the building and invite our guests to relax by reading, be passionate by playing, and learn by conversing.

A stone terrace on the 2nd floor, offers the opportunity to enjoy oneself in absolute privacy with a glass of wine from the outstanding cellar of Avli Fusion Enoteca; or a bottle from the fantastic wine shop of Avli Raw Materials; perhaps a coffee or choose from the delicious delicacies of Avli’s Creative Cuisine.
