Greek Actors Voice Characters of Ancient Greece in Assassin’s Creed Odyssey

Ubisoft Quebec, the studio behind the popular Assassin’s Creed Syndicate is ensuring the authenticity of ancient Greek in Assassin’s Creed Odyssey by casting as many Greek actors as possible.

The game takes place in ancient Greece during the Peloponnesian War.

“You can have a great actor who’s great at accents, and that’s fantastic, but you can also find great Greek actors and work with them too,” audio director of the game, Lydia Andrew, explained to vg247.com.

Depending on which characters you choose at the beginning of the game, you could end up with Greek actors such as Melissanthi Mahut — who is the voice of Kassandra — or Michael Antonakos — the voice of the character Alexios.

“What we tried to do was look for actors who are Greek or have Greek ancestry,” Andrew commented. “We really felt like it was a nice opportunity for us to have a deep dive into the culture of Greece and obviously Ancient Greece.”

The players will deal with an array of conflicts in the game such as democracy and tyranny, myth and science and order and chaos. The game recently had a playable demo at E3 2018.

Assassin’s Creed Odyssey arrives on October 5 for Xbox One, PS4, and PC.
