Where Have All the Sunbeds on Mykonos Gone?

Police on Greece’s top vacation island of Mykonos have removed all the sunbeds and umbrellas from the major beach resorts on the cosmopolitan island, saying that they do not adhere to safety measures in the coronavirus era.

Mykonos Live TV is reporting that the owners are angry, claiming that the move is detrimental to their business as the island — along with the rest of Greece — finally opens up to tourism starting on June 15.

They also claim, according to the report, that all the appropriate safety measures have been observed and that hundreds of people hired to manage the sunbeds could lose their jobs.

Mykonos Live TV reported on the unusual sight of empty beaches at the island’s famous resorts of Psarrou, Ornos and Platy Gialos.
