Erdogan: ‘We will Strengthen our Presence in the Aegean’

“From Cyprus to the Aegean, in all areas where we have problems with our national interests, we are pursuing an active policy to strengthen our presence in the region,” said Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Thursday.

According to a SKAI television report, Erdogan spoke on the occasion of Turkey’s national holiday, emphasizing that his country will be more active in the Aegean.

“Our presence in the region is not only meant as a military presence, we are also pursuing actions that will strengthen our country’s name,” Erdogan said, without specifying his statements.

Referring to the Turkish economy, following the bankruptcy of Turk Telekom and the takeover of its administration by banks, Erdogan said that the Turkish economy is under strong pressure and added that “in one or two months we will come round.”
