Greece Sizzles in First Heatwave of Season

The first mini heatwave of 2018 is set to hit Greece from Thursday with temperatures soaring to 40 degrees Celsius (104 Fahrenheit) in some central parts of the country.

Meteorologists say that the heatwave will last for at least three days. Central and western parts of the country will be particularly affected.

They also warn that African dust will also cover southern parts of Greece.

The coolest regions will be the north of the country, Athens and the Aegean islands where temperatures are not expected to rise above 36 degrees Celsius.
