Hundreds of Turks Visit Alleged Birthplace of Ataturk in Thessaloniki

Hundreds of Turkish citizens visited the building of the Turkish Council in Thessaloniki, in which the founder of the modern Turkish state, Kemal Ataturk, was allegedly born, on Friday; the 79th anniversary since Ataturk’s death.

Approximately 30 buses and individual visitors driving their own vehicles, arrived in Thessaloniki from different parts of Turkey.

According to tour operators, most of the visitors will spend the weekend in Thessaloniki to visit monuments and archaeological sites.
