Opposition Leader Mitsotakis’ Press Conference at Thessaloniki Fair (video)

The President of the Center-Right New Democracy party Mr. Kyriakos Mitsotakis gave a press conference at Thessaloniki‘s International Fair this Sunday.

Mr. Mitsotakis insisted that tax cuts will bring more revenues for the State and will give to the citizens and the businesses of the country more space to produce and create wealth.

Clarifying his pledges, Mr. Mitsotakis said that from 2021 the ENFIA Property tax will be collected by the local Authorities instead of the Government, after a flat-rate reduction of 30 per cent will be implemented for all.

He added that New Democracy’s government will reduce the social security contributions from 20 to 15 per cent for the main pension scheme, it will maintain the National Pension System but it will repeal the reform brought by SYRIZA, also known as ‘Katrougalos’ Law’.

Regarding taxation, Mr. Mitsotakis said that he intends to reduce the tax from 22 to 9 per cent for those earning €10,000 ($11,635) or less.

The reduction of VAT in restaurants and cafes from 24 to 13 percent and eventually to 11 percent was another pledge made by New Democracy’s President.

Finally, regarding the Prespa Agreement, he repeated that New Democracy will not back the agreement made by the Government of SYRIZA and blamed Mr. Kammenos for his stance on the issue.
