TheArchaeological Museum of Symi is housed in a traditional Syrian mansion of the Yanees family, endowed with N. K. Pharmakidis, a sponge builder and a sponsor of the Austro-Hungarian Empire at Symi. The neoclassical elements of the house were added in 1875. It is a donation by Ariadne B. Pharmakidis and Sevastos N.Farmakides to the Greek state. The opening of a living room with a dining room and a living room (furniture, dinner sets, paintings and season photos) as well as traditional local costumes complete the exhibition
The Museum includes the following collections:
– Archaeological collection of finds of the Classical, Hellenistic and Roman period,
– Byzantine collection,
– Folk collection
