Archaeological Museum of Nikopolis
Social Media:
The Archaeological Museum of Nikopolis was built in the 1960’s, by the Technical Services of the Ministry of Education. In 1972, the finds from the excavations at Nicopolis were put on display and a storeroom was built near the museum, to house the sculpture and finds not included in the exhibition. A new, larger museum is planned to be constructed soon.
The exhibition of the Museum concerns only the findings of the archaeological site of Nikopolis and not the Collection of a wider region, which largely determines the central idea of the exhibition. Therefore, one of the primary factors is the connection of the Exhibition and the Museum with the archaeological site of Nikopolis. The image of the space must be constantly in the mind of the visitor, as this will achieve a fuller understanding of the exhibition, regardless of whether the visit to the archaeological site is preceded or followed. The museum’s connection with the archaeological site and the monuments takes place in the reception area of the Museum as well as in the Audiovisual exhibition.
