In Chidira, Lesvos,the first Digital Museum named  Georgios Iakovidis has been created. Formed according to a special museological study based on the new technologies, it faithfully highlights the life and work of the established Greek painter through a variety of electronic systems for digital projection and interaction.

The museum functions as the meeting place of Technology with Art, offering the visitor of every age a delightful visual experience through which it takes invaluable knowledge.

On the ground floor is the personality of the painter Jacobidis through the main stations of his life, with digital applications that use archival material from family moments, professional achievements and his social environment. In the same space, the CD-Rom “George Iakovidis: his life and work” offers the visitor an alternative way to navigate the evolutionary course of the distinguished artist.

The first floor is dedicated to Georgios Iakovidis’ multi-faceted workshop. Works from the early years of his apprenticeship near his teacher Nikephoros Lytra and paintings of his maturity in Munich to the portraits of his grandchildren he created at the end of his life are analyzed and animated through a variety of electronic systems of digital projection and interaction.

The underground is shown a video related to the artistic career of Jacobidis, while the educational activities are being conducted in the same space. Especially for children was created the CD-Rom “At the atelier of Georgios Iakovidis” where the works of the painter are presented with explanatory narrative and games.
