The Gounaropoulos Museum was founded in 1979 and functions as a Legal Entity of Public Law under the municipality of Zografou. The purpose of the museum is to spread the great offer of the painter Giorgos Gounaropoulou to the general public.

The museum it is housed in the house-workshop of the painter at Ano-Ilisia, where 40 oil paintings and drawings, his personal record and objects from his everyday life are displayed.

The Gunaropoulos Museum provides specialized educational programs with activities designed for all school grades, regularly organizing periodical exhibitions, thematic talks, honorary nights, screenings and musical evenings, while also offering weekly art history lectures, open to the Public.
