The Archaeological Museum of Lavrion is at the entrance of the city for the coming from Mesogia. It is a ground floor building of the 1970s. The exhibition is developed in two rooms, the atrium and the perimeter of the atrium. The building also houses warehouses and a workshop for the maintenance of antiquities. The Museum visits many schools as part of educational programs.
The building of the Museum for a long time was used as a store of antiquities. The exhibition of antiquities was launched in 1999. With the completion of the project “Upgrading the Archaeological Museum of Lavrion”, co-financed by the European Union (ERDF) and the OP. CULTURE 2000-2006, fully renovated and equipped with air conditioning, modern sanitary facilities and infrastructure for accommodating people with mobility problems.
