The building of the Archaeological Museum of Siphnos belongs to the Medieval nucleus of the Castle. It was restored by the Ministry of Culture in the early 1980’s and opened to the public in 1986. It is going to be extended by one room which will house the exhibition of finds from the Mycenaean acropolis of Aghios Andreas.

The museum includes the following collections:

– Sculptures (funerary sculptures, statues, architectural members etc.) ranging from the Archaic to the Roman period (6th-1st century B.C.),

– Pottery from the Castle, ranging from the Geometric to the Hellenistic period (8th-2nd century B.C.),

– Coins.

The most important items of the exhibition are:

– Palmette finial of a marble funerary stele dated to the 4th century B.C.,

– Head of a marble female statue dated to the 4th century B.C.,

– Head of a marble kouros, dated to the middle of the 6th century B.C.,

– Marble Ionic capital of the 6th century B.C.,

– Marble funerary stele, dated to the Hellenistic period.

Winter: (1 November 2015 until 31 March 2016) Tuesday & Wednesday, Saturday & Sunday 8:00-15.00 Summer: (1 April until 31 October 2016) Tuesday, Friday to Sunday 08:00-15:00.
