Social Media:
During the period 1937-1962 a collection of artifacts from the coastal archaeological sites of Thrace was created at the Komotini Armenian Gymnasium.
In 1962 it was founded by the Ministry of Education, the Ephorate of Antiquities, based in Komotini, which was housed in a traditional building on 4, Bakalbasi Street (now DYYKAK). This was the first archaeological museum.
In 1968-1970 the new Archaeological Museum of Komotini was built, which was inaugurated in 1976.
In 1994-95 the process of expropriating the plots was completed in front of and behind the Museum. The buildings were demolished and the building of the Museum was liberated and now dominates the small park area of the city with its simple but imposing architectural form.
