Bread museum
The European Art Museum was created three years after the Interactive, in 2005, with the contribution of a dynamic group of young people and experienced grandmothers and is a model museum for Greece. Here you can see 520 embroidered bread from every prefecture of Greece, as well as from 28 countries abroad. Drawings and symbols from the life cycle (birth, baptism, engagement, marriage, death) and the cycle of time (Christmas, New Year, Easter, May Day, Summer, Harvesting, etc.). It works with the scientific support of the Hellenic Folklore Research Center of the Academy of Athens. Permanent position in the museum are the old-fashioned agricultural tools (plows, sickles, hoops, palmares, hand-mills, etc.).
The first exhibits were gathered from the personal collection of a group of young friends of folklore. While almost at the same time with the founding of the museums the residents of both Barnabas and the wider region of Attica responded. In terms of embroidered bread, it was important to offer organizations, schools, clubs, municipalities, citizens from all over Greece, foreign embassies and immigrants in Greece, as well as educational institutions abroad.
