Museum of Logothetis Lykourgos Tower

The Museum of Logothetis Lykourgos Tower is located on the hill of the Pythagorean Castle, which dominates the west of the city. It is housed in the Pyrgos of Lykourgos Logothetis, one of the most important monuments of Pythagorion, connected with the Byzantine and modern history of the island. The permanent exhibition organized inside the Tower includes archaeological finds from the excavations that took place in the Castle and other Byzantine sites and monuments of Pythagorion (Informative texts-signs, photographs, drawings, map reproductions, engravings, documents, touchscreen, projection room). The six thematic sections included in the exhibition cover a wide range of information on the history of the island from late antiquity to the 19th century. They deal, among other things, with the daily life during the Early Byzantine period, the history of the Castle and the impression it created for foreign travelers, the action of Lykourgos Logothetis, the Fortrian architecture in the Aegean Sea and Samos.The Museum was inaugurated in the summer of 2010.
